Game capture pilots training courses
Precision Aviation Services presents a 4 day Game capture pilots training course for a Game or Livestock cull Rating. This course can be undertaken either to obtain the aforementioned rating or for enjoying the practical experience of game capture in actual veld conditions while enhancing your flying skills.
The course is presented at a lodge and game farm, Ubhejane Game located north west of Bela Bela, Limpopo Province South Africa
The farm Ubhejane is equipped with 2 cement helipads, have lodge accommodation and facilities for classroom training.
The farm measures approximately 700 hectares in size and has 7 large permanent capture bomas and all ancillary facilities. A variety of large game is to be found on the farm including buffalo, sable antelope, kudu, zebra, oryx, impala, giraffe, eland, wildebeest, nyala,redhartbeest and a variety of other small game.
COURSE OUTLINE
The course consists of two parts being ground based theoretical lectures and practical flying of at least 5 hours dual training.
The broad outline of the theoretical lectures includes the following: Performance and dangers associated with helicopter out of ground effect operations Species identification Relevant legal aspects Flight and ground crew responsibilities and interaction Aspects relating to the setup of temporary bomas The practical flight training consists of the following: Species identification Mass capture in temporary bomas Individual chemical capture (darting) Emergency procedures Practical game captureThe last day of training is spent on a practical capture.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
A valid Helicopter Private Pilots License, rated on a Schweizer 269 or Robinson R44. If not rated conversions can be arranged at additional cost, not part of game capturing course.
A minimum and maximum of four students per course
